Product Description
The TRH1 receptor (thyrotropin-releasing hormone receptor 1) is a Gq/11 protein-coupled receptor that specifically binds thyrotropin-releasing hormone. It is primarily distributed in the anterior pituitary gland and the central nervous system (such as the cerebral cortex, hippocampus, and amygdala), and is also expressed in peripheral tissues including the retina and pancreas. Its core function, upon activation by TRH, involves stimulating phospholipase C via Gq/11 proteins to generate IP3 and DAG, thereby mobilizing intracellular calcium. In the pituitary, it primarily stimulates the release of thyroid-stimulating hormone and prolactin to regulate thyroid axis function, while in the central nervous system, it acts as a neuromodulator involved in regulating depression and anxiety behaviors, cognition, and pain perception.
