Product Description
PKR2 (Prokineticin receptor 2) is a G protein-coupled receptor encoded by the PROKR2 gene, belonging to the prokineticin receptor family. It is primarily distributed in the central nervous system (e.g., olfactory bulb, hypothalamic suprachiasmatic nucleus, hippocampus, amygdala) and peripheral tissues such as the testis and thyroid gland. Its core function involves binding to the ligand prokineticin 2 (PROK2) and activating multiple G proteins (Gq/11, Gi, and Gs), leading to intracellular calcium mobilization and MAPK pathway activation. It plays crucial roles in circadian rhythm regulation, GnRH neuron migration and reproductive axis development, olfactory bulb neurogenesis, pain perception, and energy metabolism. Mutations in this receptor gene are closely associated with idiopathic hypogonadotropic hypogonadism (with or without anosmia) and Kallmann syndrome.
