The UT receptor (urotensin-II receptor) is a class A G protein-coupled receptor primarily coupled to Gq proteins, activated by its endogenous ligand urotensin-II and the related peptide URP. It is widely distributed in the human body, mainly expressed in the cardiovascular system, central nervous system, as well as peripheral organs including the kidneys, lungs, pancreas, and adrenal glands. Its core function is to mediate one of the most potent vasoconstrictive effects known, while also participating in the regulation of various physiological processes such as vasodilation, osmoregulation, inhibition of insulin release, and cell proliferation. This receptor is closely associated with the pathological processes of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases including hypertension, heart failure, and diabetic nephropathy.
Screeningbio’s CHO-K/Human UT cell line overexpress UTS2R receptor and is designed to detect increases in intracellular IP-1 levels in response to agonist stimulation of the receptor. Cisbio HTRF IP-1 kit can be used to detect the signal.
